Pearls

Do the stones we wear affect our moods or our wellbeing? Some people think they do. Here are some things I found out pearls. I think whether they do or not, the thoughts are as beautiful as the pearls themselves.

Pearls

The pearl is the oldest known gem, and for many centuries it was considered the most valuable. Unlike all gems, the pearl is organic matter derived from a living creature - oysters and mollusks.

There is much folklore and tradition about the pearl. In fact so much history accompanies this stone that five months claim it as a birthstone - February, April, June (traditional), July and November.

The pearl is an astral stone for the signs Gemini and Cancer, and astrologers link it to the moon. It was said in some early cultures that the pearl was born when a single drop of rain fell from the heavens and became the heart of the oyster. Pearls have been called the 'teardrops of the moon'. Some believe that pearls were formed by the passage of angels through the clouds of heaven.

Over time, the pearl has become the symbol of purity and innocence and it is often sewn into bridal gowns, or worn as jewelry by the bride.

Today

The day begun with my youngest jumping on the bed at 6am saying, “Merry Christmas! Can we open presents yet?” Oh, not yet…… I didn’t stumble out of bed until 7am and then of course had to wake up my little Vampire. Most of you know her as Cat. She has since barely slept. If she does sleep, it’s a short nap during from 4am-8am. Gifts were opened and loved. Traditional breakfast was eaten and savored. Naps were taken and felt decadent. The day had no schedule; we ate when we were hungry, and cuddled under soft blankets when we were sleepy. We played games, and laughed. Today was a good day. We tried hard not to miss friends and family back home, but that didn’t work, because you all kept calling us all day! Thank you!! It was nice to know you were thinking the same things we were. As I write this tonight, I can’t believe another Christmas is over. It passes to quickly. We had a Merry Christmas, and hope you did too. My wish for you tonight is to snuggle in for a long winters nap. I know I will be.

A Day of Blog Building.

Well, I spent the whole day playing with this blog space, and all I got was this dumb T-shirt.  Just kidding, seriously though, this was all I got done in one whole day.  There is way more to this blogging stuff then I thought.   If only my Blog was this artfully created!!!

Fresh Start

I just moved to the lovely South this month. It's a new start at the beginning of a brand new year. I have been very lucky to find a wonderfully inviting community in a beautiful city. As the year comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on the past year, and looking forward to the year to come. I feel as if I have been given a fresh start here. I have a new home, new friends, and new focuses. This is my first time ever posting on a blog. I hope to be a seasoned veteran here soon. I suppose time will tell. Until then, I am glad you stopped by to share a few moments with me. I want to thank you, and I hope we can talk soon!
